James M. Friedman serves as Co-Chair of the firm's Public Law Practice Group and is Chairman to the Environmental Law Practice Group.

As a former Chief of Staff to Governor John J. Gilligan and as a registered legislative agent, he represents clients on legislative, administrative and executive policy matters at the federal, state and local levels of government.

Mr. Friedman has extensive political experience, serving as National Campaign Manager for Bayh for President and as a consultant to campaigns in Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Tennessee as well as ten other states. He also served as a Consultant for the Democratic National Committee and Senatorial Committee's Campaign Training Institute. Under Ohio House Speaker Vernal G. Riffe, Jr. Mr. Friedman was a consultant to the Ohio House Democratic Committee. Mr. Friedman served as Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee Finance Council.

Currently, Mr. Friedman serves as a member of the Ohio Democratic Executive Committee.

He received his A.B. summa cum laude in 1963 from Dartmouth College and received his J. D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1966.
